The opposite of an open circuit – infinite resistance– is a short circuit – zero resistance. The Balance of Power Machine Prototype 01 exists somewhere between these states of indifference and danger. Its materials are commonplace and pragmatic, unremarkable at best– eliciting caution only through the recognition of its arrangement as a short circuit. Lacking any resistance in the system, power will continually feed off itself in a reflexive and self–reinforcing cycle. It will grow unchecked and concede nothing without demand.
